Court Orders Club Brawl Participants to Pay Compensation to Victim

The Magistrate's Court in Bat Yam ruled this week that a 23-year-old man, who was attacked during a night out at a club in Rishon LeZion, will receive 335,050 shekels in compensation from several individuals involved in the brawl. The settlement was reached between the parties following a lengthy legal process.

The incident occurred on the night of December 14, 2018. A minor dispute inside the club escalated into a violent confrontation. Attorney Itamar Ben-Ami, representing the victim, utilized security footage to demonstrate that his client was repeatedly punched and kicked both inside the club and outside after security personnel removed the parties involved without properly separating them. The lawsuit alleged that the club staff failed to call police or emergency services and did not provide medical assistance.

Further investigations revealed that the club was operating without a valid license, lacked sufficient security staff, and that employees were not trained to handle violent incidents. Following the event, the club was closed by court order, and the attackers were convicted in separate criminal proceedings.

The victim was hospitalized at Sheba Hospital for three days, where he underwent surgery under general anesthesia to reconstruct his fractured jaw. While the defendants argued that the plaintiff was intoxicated and that the injury occurred outside the club by a third party, the civil settlement holds them accountable for the damages.

Under the terms of the agreement, without admission of liability, the compensation is structured as follows:

1. The first attacker will pay 89,700 shekels.

2. The second attacker will pay 76,000 shekels.

3. The third attacker will pay 17,350 shekels.

4. The club owners and the 'Migdal' insurance company will jointly pay 152,000 shekels.

The Magistrate's Court in Bat Yam has granted this settlement the force of a final judgment.
