Terrorist who held hostages and participated in the Red Cross handover ceremony has been eliminated

The IDF announced today, Friday, that it eliminated Subhi Sami Mahmoud Shahat, a platoon commander in the Hamas military wing, in a strike in the Nuseirat area the day before yesterday. According to the army's statement, Shahat infiltrated Israel during the October 7 massacre, was involved in holding many hostages in captivity throughout the war, and participated in the ceremony of handing them over to the Red Cross in November 2023.

IDF forces eliminated the terrorist in the Gaza Strip. According to the military, Shahat was directly involved in the events of October 7.

"The terrorist Subhi raided the territory of the State of Israel during the October 7 massacre and took part in holding many hostages in the captivity of Hamas throughout the war," the statement said.

The IDF noted that Shahat was also involved in one of the hostage release ceremonies during the deal in November 2023.

"In addition, as part of Operation 'Heaven's Gates' in November 2023, the terrorist took part in the 'ceremony' of releasing the returnees and handing them over to the Red Cross," the army stated.

According to the army, Shahat's activity did not end with his involvement in holding the hostages. Recently, he attempted to promote terrorist plots against IDF forces and Israeli citizens and was eliminated to remove the threat.

The IDF emphasized that forces under the Southern Command continue to be deployed in the area and will continue to act to neutralize any immediate threats.
