Suspect in car theft killed after night chase in Jerusalem

According to the police, the suspect fled in a vehicle stolen from the Katamon neighborhood, and during the chase, he drove against the flow of traffic. At the At-Tur junction, he collided with a pole and a private vehicle, was critically injured, and his death was later pronounced at the hospital.
The incident began after a report was received by the police regarding a vehicle stolen from the Katamon neighborhood. Patrol teams from the Moriah, Lev HaBira, and Shalem stations identified the vehicle while it was driving and attempted to bring it to a stop.
According to the police, the driver did not comply with the officers' orders and began to flee while driving in a manner that endangered the officers and other road users. During the chase, he even drove against the flow of traffic.
Police stated that in light of the danger and in an attempt to stop the suspect, the officers performed targeted fire at the vehicle's tires. The driver continued his flight until he reached the At-Tur junction, where he lost control and collided with a pole and a private vehicle.
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been determined, was critically injured. Medical teams performed resuscitation efforts and evacuated him to the hospital, where his death was later pronounced.
In the incident, a police officer and a civilian were also lightly injured and were evacuated for medical treatment.
