Suspect arrested after high-speed chase with over 2 kg of cocaine

Three 22-year-old men were arrested overnight Monday after more than two kilograms of a substance suspected to be cocaine were found in their vehicle, Walla reported. One of the suspects attempted to evade police, first by car and then on foot, but was apprehended following a chase near the Beit Kama junction.

During the night, police conducted a targeted operation focused on drug possession. As part of the operation, officers blocked the path of the suspicious vehicle. According to police, the driver attempted to flee the scene, collided with another vehicle during the pursuit, and subsequently abandoned his car to continue on foot.

Officers pursued the suspect and managed to arrest him near the Beit Kama junction. Two other suspects remained in the vehicle and were also taken into custody.

2.2 kg of cocaine and ecstasy seized

A police search of the vehicle revealed two slabs of a substance suspected to be cocaine, weighing approximately 2.2 kg. Additionally, officers seized about 14 grams of a substance suspected to be ecstasy and five mobile phones. The three suspects, all 22 years old and residents of the Bedouin sector and Tel Sheva, were transferred to the Be'er Sheva police station for questioning and subsequently detained. They are expected to appear in court today, where police will request an extension of their remand.

This incident follows a similar chase that occurred in the south last February. At that time, police officers from the Rahat station identified a suspicious vehicle on Highway 40 and initiated a pursuit toward Lehavim. During the flight, the driver discarded three packages containing approximately three kilograms of cocaine. He was eventually arrested after police set up a roadblock, and was later indicted on charges of drug possession and obstruction of justice.
