Man in his 40s missing in the Sea of Galilee: extensive search underway
Police, aerial units, and rescue teams are searching for a man who reportedly entered the water at Trapez Beach and disappeared, leaving his belongings behind.
Officers from the maritime police unit on the Sea of Galilee, alongside Northern District police, an aerial unit helicopter, and additional rescue forces, are currently operating on Monday following reports of a man in his forties who apparently entered the water at Trapez Beach. He left his belongings on the shore, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
The search operation at the site is ongoing.
Last August, after several days of searching, the body of 38-year-old Shlomi Banai from Tel Aviv was recovered from the Sea of Galilee. Maritime police pulled the body from the water, and MADA teams summoned to the scene were forced to declare his death.
Police and rescue forces had worked for days to locate Banai, who entered the Sea of Galilee on a SUP board near Mosh Beach before disappearing. The search involved Northern District police, maritime police, inspectors from the Sea of Galilee Cities Association, an aerial unit helicopter, and other rescue personnel.
Dudu Fahima, a MADA paramedic at the scene, stated: "We met the boat at the Capernaum Beach pier. A 38-year-old man recovered from the lake was brought to us. We performed medical checks, but he showed no signs of life, and we had no choice but to declare his death."
