Renowned Musician Questioned Over Threats to Guy Peleg: "I Intend to File a Lawsuit as Well"
Drummer Lior Shulman was questioned by police following harsh remarks against Channel 12 journalist Guy Peleg. Shulman claims the comments were made in jest, while Peleg insists on pursuing full criminal and civil charges.
Drummer and music producer Lior Shulman, known for his work with leading artists including Ishay Ribo, Eyal Golan, Mosh Ben-Ari, Riki Gal, and Dikla, was questioned last week on suspicion of threatening Channel 12 journalist Guy Peleg. The investigation was opened following a complaint filed by Peleg on July 20, after Shulman attacked him harshly on social media regarding the publication of security footage from the Sde Teiman affair.
In his posts, Shulman criticized the way the affair was covered by Peleg, labeling the reporting a "blood libel" and condemning the use of terms such as "rape and sodomy." The statements later escalated into direct threats, with Shulman writing that Peleg "should be executed in the Shin Bet basements," adding:
"It's a good thing I didn't meet him on the street, I would have served prison time for him."
In response to the investigation, Shulman clarified that as the father of a daughter serving in the Givati reconnaissance unit—who also served at Sde Teiman—the publication hurt him and his family personally. However, he emphasized that he did not conduct a personal campaign against Peleg and that the comments were written in response to a private post by a friend, which has since been deleted.
Shulman distanced himself from the harsh language, clarifying that the words were written as a joke and as slang without any intention to threaten or harm, and noted that no restrictive conditions were imposed on him during the brief police questioning. He added that during the month of Elul, he is willing to ask for forgiveness from Peleg if he felt threatened.
Guy Peleg views the matter with great severity. In his response to a question from journalist Liora Goldberg Stern, Peleg stated that the words speak for themselves and constitute a direct threat that has shocked many citizens. Peleg clarified that he intends to insist on full criminal prosecution of Shulman and plans to file a civil lawsuit against him.
