One dead and several wounded at a rave party in Switzerland: "At first we thought it was fireworks"

A shooting occurred early Sunday morning during a rave party at the horse racing track in the city of Aarau, Switzerland. The Aargau cantonal police confirmed that a large-scale operation is underway, though they have not yet provided precise details regarding the circumstances of the incident.
Vanessa Rumpold, spokesperson for the Aargau cantonal police, stated that the incident is focused on the horse racing track.
"It is still unclear what exactly happened," she said.
According to Rumpold, police can only confirm that there were "several shots fired among a large group of people." Numerous forces were called to the scene, including the Aargau cantonal emergency unit (KKE) and an army Super Puma helicopter.
While Rumpold confirmed there are several wounded, she could not provide information on potential fatalities at this stage. Shortly before 6:00, police confirmed on the X network that there were "several casualties," and by 7:00, spokesperson Pascal Wenzel described the situation as an "exceptional situation."
Authorities have urged the public to stay away from the area, which may indicate that suspects remain at large. The swimming pool adjacent to the Schachen neighborhood will remain closed throughout Sunday.
The identities of the suspects are currently unknown, and it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made or if the perpetrators have fled. Police have requested that anyone with video or photographic evidence from the event come forward.
One attendee described the moment the shooting began around 4:00.
"At first, we thought the sounds were fireworks after seeing sparks on the ceiling. Then a shout was heard: 'Get on the floor!'" she said.
The group hid under the DJ stand. According to the witness, one of their friends attempted to perform CPR on a woman lying on the floor, but without success. Unconfirmed reports from witnesses suggest there were four suspects, three dead, and seven wounded.
The group is currently being held in a nearby sports hall, where they are receiving care and support from the police.
