Young Israeli missing in Japan: Police request public assistance

The Israel Police is requesting the public's help in locating Amir Ambarbar, 23, from Ramle, who has been missing in Japan for about three weeks. According to the police statement, Ambarbar left Israel on April 20, 2026, and entered Japan on August 2, and his tracks have been lost since then.

Today (Thursday), following authorization from his family, the police released information regarding his disappearance and appealed to the public for assistance. According to the provided description, Ambarbar is approximately 1.70 meters tall, has a thin build, brown hair, and black eyes.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the Israel Police 100 hotline or the Ramle police station at 08-9279444.

This appeal comes less than a week after another case involving two Israeli women, Meli and Liel Yahalomi, who were reported missing while in Vienna. The two residents of Modiin were later located on a bus in South America following a joint operation by the Israel Police with international security and law enforcement agencies.

At the time, the police stated that the search operations were conducted in cooperation with all relevant parties in Israel and abroad, including Europol. Following focused efforts, the two were found, and the police expressed gratitude to those who assisted in the search.

Currently, the police are continuing operations to locate Ambarbar and are asking anyone with relevant information to contact the investigative authorities as soon as possible.
