Senior US State Department Official: 'Antisemitism Is Rising Globally, Governments Must Protect Jews'
Against the backdrop of US preparations to increase security around synagogues and Jewish communities ahead of the High Holy Days, a senior State Department official tells Walla that Washington is calling on governments around the world to act to protect Jews: 'The toxic hatred that is antisemitism is rising globally, the Trump administration is fighting it.'

A senior US State Department official said yesterday, Thursday, to Walla that the United States is calling on governments around the world to take decisive action to protect Jewish communities, against the backdrop of the rise in antisemitism and concerns for the safety of Jews ahead of the High Holy Days.
'While the toxic hatred that is antisemitism is rising globally, the United States continues to call on governments to take decisive action to protect Jewish communities,' the official told Walla.
In recent days, the State Department sent a directive to US missions around the world to approach local governments and request that they increase security around synagogues, Jewish institutions, and High Holy Day events.
The official also mentioned the executive order that Donald Trump signed at the beginning of his term, which states that it is the policy of the United States to combat antisemitism 'decisively' and through all appropriate legal tools.
