Senior security official: 'The decision to focus on Iran wasted billions while Hamas built up its strength in Gaza'
In one of the testimonies in the report, a former high-ranking security official claims that Benjamin Netanyahu received several warnings about October 7th but took no action. Another official argued that even if Netanyahu's decision to invest in Iran was legitimate, the minimum requirement is to explain and justify it before a state commission of inquiry.
The 'October Council' organization published a report on Monday titled 'Strategic Warning: The 2026 Failure'. According to the authors, the document is 'a warning document written in an attempt to connect into one picture the signs of danger that are already in front of our eyes today'.
In the report, which includes testimonies from various people, there is a testimony from a former high-ranking security official who says:
'Benjamin Netanyahu received over ten warnings, but it did not move him. He claimed that we were exaggerating. I tell you from personal knowledge that some of the warnings Benjamin Netanyahu received were focused on the High Holy Days, and the question arises as to what the cabinet did about it'.
Another senior security official stated:
'The decision to focus on the Iranian arena wasted billions on projects that were delusional, while Hamas built up its strength in Gaza and did not receive the attention it deserved. Even if the Prime Minister's decision was legitimate, the minimum is to explain and justify it before a state commission of inquiry'.
Sh., the mother of an observer currently serving in Gaza, said:
'The thought that she sits for hours in front of the screens, sees the danger approaching, does her job in the best way possible, and receives threats and silencing in return, just breaks me from the inside. How does it make sense that commanders who are supposed to protect her and listen to her are the ones who scare her? History is simply repeating itself before my eyes, and this time it is her there'.
