4-year-old boy dies after being left for hours in a locked car in East Jerusalem
Four-year-old Shaker Jindi was found in a locked vehicle. Despite resuscitation efforts, his death was pronounced at Al-Makassed Hospital. The parents and a relative have been detained for questioning. A disturbance broke out outside the hospital as relatives attempted to prevent the transfer of the body to the Institute of Forensic Medicine.
A child was found lifeless in a locked vehicle in East Jerusalem. On Friday, police received a report regarding a 4-year-old boy who was rushed to Al-Makassed Hospital while undergoing resuscitation efforts, after having been left in a car for at least three hours. At the hospital, doctors were forced to pronounce the death of the child, Shaker Jindi, who was forgotten in the vehicle on a day when temperatures in Jerusalem reached 34 degrees Celsius.
The parents and another relative were detained for questioning. Officers from the Shalem station have launched an investigation, which, according to the family, indicates the child was found after a prolonged period in the locked car. Simultaneously, officers are working to locate the exact scene of the incident in the Wadi al-Joz area to collect further evidence.
Outside the hospital, a disturbance erupted as the child's relatives attempted to prevent the transfer of his body for an autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Kabir. YASAM special forces were called to the scene to maintain order.
