Bus driver in critical condition after collapsing at the wheel

A bus driver collapsed and lost consciousness while driving today, Thursday, resulting in a collision with a vehicle on Highway 651 near Yam Junction. MADA teams provided initial treatment and evacuated the 50-year-old man to Hillel Yaffe Hospital in critical condition while performing ongoing resuscitation efforts. The driver of the other vehicle sustained light injuries.

MADA paramedics Yonatan Yankelevich, Yosef Friedman, and Elimelech Michalovich reported: "We received a report about a bus driver who collapsed while driving, leading to a collision with a private vehicle. Upon arrival, we boarded the bus to find frightened passengers and the driver unconscious in his cabin. We extracted him and performed medical checks; he had no pulse and was not breathing. We initiated advanced resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions, artificial respiration, and eight electric shocks from a defibrillator, and evacuated him to the hospital in critical condition while fighting for his life. Simultaneously, we conducted a comprehensive assessment of the bus passengers and the damaged vehicle. The driver of the car was evacuated in mild condition. The other bus passengers did not require medical treatment or hospital transport."
