Jeremy Sochan has agreed to a one-year contract with the Portland Trail Blazers. The American forward with Polish citizenship (23, 2.03 meters) will join Deni Avdija and his teammates after winning the NBA championship with the New York Knicks, whom he joined in the middle of last season after three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs. Sochan was selected ninth overall in the 2022 draft by the Spurs. Early in his career, he was a key part of the Texas team and even played as a point guard in many games, but was released last February and moved to the Knicks. In the final series, he faced his former team and, in fact, would have won a ring regardless of the outcome. In 228 games in the best league in the world, Sochan averaged 9.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. The last season was less successful for him; he participated in only 44 games and recorded 3.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game. In Portland, he hopes to improve his averages. Sochan has represented the Polish national team since the EuroBasket 2022 qualifiers, as his mother is Polish and came to study in the United States, where she met his father. In his debut, he won 88:81 against Romania, becoming the youngest player in the team's history and scoring 18 points in 29 minutes.
