A gap of over 10 million shekels: Investigation into a dentist from the south
The Tax Authority is investigating a dentist from Be'er Sheva on suspicion of failing to report income of millions of shekels. According to the suspicion, the gap between deposits and reports exceeded 10 million shekels, real estate assets were omitted from a capital declaration, and a residential address was not updated.
The National Unit for Investigations and Combating Crime (Yahalom), in cooperation with the Tax Authority, is conducting an investigation into Raed Albaz, a dentist and owner of the "Dr. Albaz" clinic in Be'er Sheva. According to the suspicions, Albaz failed to report income amounting to millions of shekels, submitted a false capital declaration, and did not report a change of address, thereby retaining tax benefits associated with his former residence despite no longer living there.
An analysis of the suspect's bank accounts revealed that deposits into his business account were significantly higher than the figures reported to the Tax Authority. The discrepancy between the actual deposits and the reports filed for the years 2020–2025 exceeds 10 million shekels.
Furthermore, the investigation revealed that the suspect omitted real estate assets worth approximately 2,400,000 shekels from a capital declaration submitted in December 2022. Additionally, the suspect moved his residence from Tel Sheva, a locality qualifying for an 18% tax benefit, to the locality of Omer without notifying the authorities.
Yesterday, the investigation moved to the public phase, with documents seized from the suspect's home and his representative's office under a court order. Subsequently, the suspect was brought before a judge at the Magistrate's Court in Rishon LeZion, who ordered his release under restrictive conditions. The investigation is ongoing.
