Bus hits pedestrians in Ashkelon; several injured at the scene

A bus hit pedestrians this afternoon (Tuesday) on David Remez Street in Ashkelon. According to MADA, two people were seriously injured and one is trapped at the scene.

Yesterday, two people were killed in a traffic accident between two trucks on Highway 60, near the community of Rehelim in Samaria. The two were extracted from the trucks by firefighters from the Fire and Rescue Authority, and a MADA team pronounced the death of one of them at the scene. The second was evacuated in serious condition, but shortly after, his death was also pronounced.

Reshef Omer Hamed, a shift commander at the Fire and Rescue Authority, said:

"This is a fatal and complex scene. We arrived at the scene, and while forming a situational picture, I understood that there were two trapped individuals, one inside each truck. We carried out the rescue quickly, using specialized rescue tools."

Shortly before that, a 25-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured on the section near the community of Ofra on Highway 60. MADA teams called to the scene evacuated him to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem, suffering from multi-system trauma.

In Tel Aviv, a 40-year-old electric scooter rider was seriously injured yesterday while riding on Derech Shlomo in the south of the city. MADA teams called to the scene evacuated him to Ichilov Hospital, suffering from a head injury. During the night, a 45-year-old female pedestrian was seriously injured by a vehicle in Kiryat Motzkin, and she was evacuated to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

Two days ago, a 35-year-old man was killed in a traffic accident between a private car and a minibus on Highway 98, near the Afik junction in the southern Golan Heights. A MADA team pronounced the death of one of the victims and evacuated 9 other injured people to the hospital, including a 30-year-old man in moderate condition with limb injuries and 8 in light condition.
