Former MK and well-known businessmen questioned on suspicion of real estate offenses
A bankrupt contractor, several businessmen, and a former Knesset member have been detained on suspicion of concealing real estate assets and smuggling funds. The investigation is led by YALEK.
A contractor currently in bankruptcy proceedings, several well-known businessmen, and a lawyer who previously served as a member of the Knesset were detained on Monday for questioning by the National Economic Crimes Unit (YALEK) of Lahav 433, on suspicion of concealing rights to real estate assets and smuggling assets.
YALEK investigators, together with the National Investigations Unit of the Commissioner for Insolvency and Economic Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Justice, detained the suspects due to suspicion that the contractor, who has been in bankruptcy proceedings since 2012, acted to conceal his rights to various real estate assets worth tens of millions of shekels, and smuggled assets that were under his control while in bankruptcy. In doing so, he violated his obligation to disclose and report his assets during the process.
The findings of the investigation indicate that the suspects acted in a sophisticated and systematic manner to hide their rights from the authorities and pocket huge sums. With the transition to an open investigation and the detention of the suspects, a large amount of property was seized with the aim of forfeiting it during the subsequent legal proceedings.
