UEFA launched an investigation on Tuesday following allegations by the Republic of Ireland delegation that an Israeli national team member spat at an Irish staff member.

UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings after reviewing official reports concerning an alleged tunnel incident during halftime. A UEFA ethics and disciplinary inspector has been appointed to investigate potential misconduct.

Tensions flared as the teams headed to the dressing rooms at halftime. According to Irish reports, staff member Damian Doyle claimed an individual from the Israeli bench spat at him, with Serbian security personnel reportedly witnessing the event.

The Israeli Football Association strongly denied the accusations, calling them baseless provocations. IFA spokesperson Shlomi Barzel stated that the team maintained sportsmanship throughout both matches despite alleged provocations from the Irish side.
