UAE President Meets Hero flydubai Pilot and Proposes Jiu-Jitsu Training

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed met with flydubai pilot Smit Machchhar, who narrowly thwarted a hijacking attempt and sustained serious injuries. During a special reception in Abu Dhabi, the president inspected Machchhar's cast and head stitches, asking about his recovery timeline.

"Maybe in about two months," Machchhar replied. With a smile, the president suggested a light-hearted training session, saying, "I have an idea. Once you recover, I want to hold a training session with you to teach you how to fight."

Machchhar laughed and responded that it would be a great honor. Addressing the entire flight crew, the president emphasized, "No matter what happened in your lives, the United Arab Emirates is your country, and you have a home and a family here." Jiu-jitsu is widely regarded as a national sport in the UAE.

During the emotional meeting, the UAE president awarded Machchhar and his crew the prestigious Order of Zayed, first class. Machchhar's heroism has garnered global recognition, with reports indicating that the Israeli government is also considering bestowing a civilian bravery award upon him for his actions.
