Tyrese Asante: "A move this summer is definitely possible, I would be lying if I said there is no interest"

Against the backdrop of rumors about a possible move to the Italian league, Tyrese Asante gave an interview this Friday to the Dutch media in which he admitted:

"A move this summer is definitely a possibility. I know what I have here, and I will not trade it for something that is not better. I would be lying if I said there is no interest. But everything has to fit. You only have one career, and therefore the choices you make are very important. I am not going to make a hasty decision. If there is no move, I am at peace with that too. I am happy here."

According to reports, Lecce, Monza, and others have expressed interest in the Maccabi Tel Aviv defender, who added:

"If I have regrets or think I should have done a little more here or there, then for me, my career will not be successful. I don't know where this hard work will take me, but I definitely think I can go very far. If I finish my career without regrets, I will be satisfied. Within five years, I want to play for a top club in a top league. I feel that is very realistic. Of course, I have to continue working very hard, but I am convinced that it will happen if I do that."

Regarding the move from the Netherlands to Maccabi Tel Aviv, he said: "At some point, my agent told me that Maccabi was interested in me. The club already wanted to do the deal in the winter, but I pushed it back by half a year. I wasn't convinced immediately. The sporting director of Maccabi Tel Aviv at that time was Dominec Price, and he called my agent every week. He made it clear how much he wanted me, but we kept rejecting the possibility. Price even came to the Netherlands and saw some of my games. I remember I played really badly then."

Despite this, the "yellows" did not give up: "I felt that Maccabi really wanted me, and that was very important. In the summer, my agent said to me: 'Just talk to them.' I talked to Price for an hour, and after that, everything happened very quickly. I didn't know much about the football here, because as a little kid, you don't exactly dream of playing in Israel. But when I started checking and saw how big the club was, I wanted to take the step."

On the reception among the "yellows": "Of course, it's a change. I had never lived alone, and suddenly I left my familiar environment in the Netherlands and moved alone to another country. It was easier than I thought. The people here accepted me excellently. Everything is very professional, and I receive a lot of trust from the club. That definitely helps."

On the Premier League: "The stadium here is full every week with 30,000 fans. They scream for 90 minutes. It's different from the Netherlands. I have a feeling that in the Netherlands, everything is a bit more 'orderly.' Here, they are really crazy. One time we lost, and then the training complex was full of angry fans. That's how passionate they are. We are the biggest club in Israel, so when you lose, they come to demand answers. Even in away games, it's very intense."
