Tyler Dorsey Suspended by Olympiacos After Scathing Social Media Outburst
Tyler Dorsey was suspended by Olympiacos after lashing out at the coaching staff over reduced playing time and his uncertain contract status, forcing his immediate return to Athens.

A major crisis has erupted at Olympiacos as guard Tyler Dorsey launched a scathing attack on the club and coaching staff over a sudden drop in playing time and uncertainty regarding his expiring contract. Following his public outburst on social media, the Greek powerhouse announced that the 30-year-old player has been suspended from the squad ahead of their upcoming match against Barcelona and ordered to return immediately to Athens.
The friction began when Dorsey reacted to an Instagram post by the "Triple Threat Show" on the Amerikanos24TV channel, where players Chima Moneke and Jaron Blossomgame debated whether Olympiacos should extend Dorsey's contract before Christmas. While Blossomgame claimed the guard was replaceable, Crvena Zvezda forward Moneke argued that the club should retain him and appreciate his valuable contributions from the previous season.
"If what I do can be done by someone else, why don't they let me leave right now, especially if they don't want to pay me?" Dorsey wrote in a sharp comment. "Why waste time and create dramas? Why is the coaching staff so scared? Let's find out! My minutes dropped out of nowhere, but I don't need to expose everything right now. The truth about how I was treated here will come out. Not everything is as it seems from the outside!"
Dorsey's outburst came just a day after Olympiacos secured a dramatic comeback victory on the road against Valencia, erasing a 25-point halftime deficit to win in overtime. During that game, Dorsey played just five minutes and scored two points on 1-of-2 shooting. Throughout the current EuroLeague season, he has averaged 12.6 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 18 minutes and 26 seconds per contest, as head coach Georgios Bartzokas heavily favors the backcourt duo of Jean Montero and Evan Fournier.
Chima Moneke came to Dorsey's defense following the incident, emphasizing the guard's importance to the roster. "You need enough weapons when competing against the best teams, and Olympiacos needs him for the Greek League playoffs as well," Moneke noted, highlighting Dorsey's Greek passport and his crucial role in last season's title run. The situation leaves the future of Dorsey in Piraeus hanging by a thread as relations with the management reach an all-time low.
