Turkish authorities announced the arrest of 191 suspects in a massive sweep targeting an international investment fraud network allegedly run by Israeli nationals. According to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the syndicate defrauded victims worldwide of more than 3 billion dollars.

Syndicate Structure and Operations

The investigation, involving Turkey's MIT intelligence agency, the MASAK financial crimes unit, and Istanbul police, revealed that the network used front companies disguised as service, consulting, and tourism firms. Operating primarily out of Istanbul and Mugla, the network deployed aggressive online marketing campaigns promising high returns on forex and crypto investments.

The suspects allegedly used false identities, polygraph tests for recruits, and strict internal security measures, including a ban on speaking Hebrew inside the offices.

Modus Operandi and Global Reach

Investigators stated that the syndicate utilized fraudulent trading platforms such as Inefex, Quantum AI, Algo Education, and Exentral-Int. Victims were initially lured with small investments before being pressured into transferring larger sums. When withdrawal requests were made, accounts were abruptly frozen under the pretext of taxes or security fees.

According to MIT findings, the operation relocated to Turkey after Israel banned binary options trading in 2017. The network deliberately avoided targeting Israeli and US citizens, focusing instead on investors across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
