Trump: "Iran wants compensation for damages. Interesting idea - I will demand payment from them in negotiations!"

Against the backdrop of stalling negotiations between the parties, US President Donald Trump is once again threatening Tehran. "Iran has asked for compensation for the damage caused to it during the war," he wrote this evening (Monday) on his social network, Truth Social.

"This is an interesting idea because I am also demanding compensation from them for all the people they have killed and those who were seriously wounded."

In the post, he claimed that "compensation should also be paid to the hundreds of thousands of protesters that Iran has killed over the last 50 years, not to mention the 52,000 protesters it has killed in the last five months. I have instructed my representatives to insist on this in the negotiations." He recalled that the war began with the goal of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, and noted that Tehran's demand for compensation "was never mentioned in our negotiations or meetings!"

Trump mentioned many who fell victim to hostile acts by Iran and claimed: "I have instructed my representatives to firmly include this in any future negotiations, whatever they may be."

Trump's words this evening were written after he told Axios just yesterday that "we are keeping a low profile on the Iran issue." Regarding the contacts with Tehran, he said: "We are negotiating with them very partially. We are simply following what is happening in Iran - with the massive inflation there and the fact that they have no money."

Earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported that Trump is "showing patience" in the face of the new crisis in the contacts, in light of the new demands set by Iran. The US President added yesterday that Iran's economic situation is "very bad," and claimed that the regime does not even have money to pay its soldiers. Trump also noted that the US naval blockade has exacerbated the Iranian regime's economic crisis.

"It will work out. It always works out. It's like a game of chess," he said regarding the confrontations with Iran.
