Tragedy for Jerusalem Deputy Mayor: granddaughter passes away at five
Little Ruchama Chana passed away in the United States after a year and a half battle with a serious illness. Her family has said their goodbyes and is preparing to transport her remains for burial in Israel.
A profound tragedy has struck the family of Jerusalem’s Deputy and Acting Mayor and Shas faction chairman, Tzvika Cohen: his granddaughter, five-year-old Ruchama Chana Cohen, has passed away following a prolonged struggle with a serious illness.
The heartbreaking news arrived from Brooklyn, where the child had been staying. She fell ill approximately a year and a half ago, and throughout her battle, her family and community remained hopeful for her recovery.
Ruchama Chana was the daughter of Avraham Yeshayahu Cohen, Tzvika Cohen’s son, and Chaya Sarah Cohen. During her illness, many prayers were held for her healing, including a large gathering at the Western Wall where many prayed for her well-being.
Despite these efforts, the family received the devastating news of her passing over the weekend.
Her grandfather, Tzvika Cohen, traveled to the United States to bid her a final farewell. Her remains are expected to be flown to Israel, where the family will hold a funeral service and lay her to rest.
