Tragedy in Jerusalem: 4-year-old dies after being in a locked car, investigation opened

Jerusalem District police officers opened an investigation today, Friday, into the circumstances of the death of a child about 4 years old in East Jerusalem. According to the police, the child was evacuated to the hospital while undergoing resuscitation efforts, but doctors there were forced to pronounce his death. As part of the initial examination, the family stated that he was found after spending a long time in a locked car.

The incident became known to the police following a report received at the dispatch center about a child about 4 years old who was evacuated for medical treatment while undergoing resuscitation efforts. Upon his arrival at the hospital, his death was pronounced. Upon receiving the report, officers from the Shalem station began initial investigative actions to clarify the circumstances of the incident. According to the police statement, "it emerged from them, according to the family, that the minor was found after a prolonged stay in a locked car."

At the same time, the officers are working to locate and examine the scene of the incident in the Wadi al-Joz area of East Jerusalem, and are collecting additional findings at the site as part of the investigation. The police detained the child's parents and another relative for questioning. At this stage, it has not been reported that any of them have been arrested or suspected of a crime, and the circumstances of the child's death are still being investigated.
