Tragedy in Mexico: 4-year-old grandson of prominent rabbi drowns
A four-year-old child, the grandson of a well-known rabbi, has drowned in a pool while on a private family vacation in Mexico during the 'bein hazmanim' period. Despite extensive resuscitation efforts by local rescue teams, the child could not be saved. The family is currently arranging for his transfer to Israel for burial.
A severe tragedy occurred during the 'bein hazmanim' period: a four-year-old child, the grandson of a well-known rabbi, drowned in a pool during a private family vacation in Mexico. Local rescue teams were called to the scene and performed prolonged resuscitation efforts in an attempt to save his life. Despite these efforts, the child's condition did not improve, and responders were ultimately forced to pronounce his death. The family is currently working to arrange his transfer to Israel for burial.
At this stage, the names of the child and his family members are not being released. The family has requested privacy until arrangements for his return are completed and relatives have arrived in Israel.
This disaster follows another fatal drowning that occurred in Israel two days ago, when a toddler of about 18 months drowned in a private pool in Ashkelon. MADA teams performed extensive resuscitation efforts and evacuated her in critical condition to Barzilai Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Medical and safety officials reiterate that drowning can occur in a very short time, and therefore continuous, close supervision of children near water is essential.
