Tow Truck Driver Arrested on Route 444 for Transporting Stolen Vehicles
A tow truck driver from Jerusalem was arrested on Route 444 after volunteers intercepted his truck carrying stolen vehicles bound for the West Bank.
A tow truck driver was arrested on Sunday night on suspicion of transporting stolen vehicles after arousing the suspicion of volunteer forces from the Central District Border Police on Route 444.
During operational activity, the volunteers spotted a tow truck carrying two vehicles and a motorcycle, heading towards the Rantis crossing in the West Bank area. The driver, noticing the force, behaved suspiciously and hesitated to turn towards the crossing for several traffic light cycles, delaying traffic on the road.
The volunteers stopped the truck for inspection. The driver, a resident of Jerusalem, claimed he collected the vehicles from Rishon LeZion and Rehovot as part of his work as a tow truck driver.
Following the suspicion, the volunteers contacted the vehicle owners. The owners were surprised to learn their vehicles had been taken, stating they had never ordered towing services or given permission to transport them. Once the theft was confirmed, the driver was arrested and transferred along with the truck and vehicles to the Rosh HaAyin police station for investigation. The stolen vehicles were later returned to their owners.
