A significant development has occurred in the investigation into the suspected rape of three young women in the Afula area. The main suspect, a 21-year-old man, was released on Sunday after approximately 20 days in detention. The two other suspects in the case, both minors, were also released.
The investigation began in late July after three young women filed a complaint alleging they had been raped by the three suspects. The inquiry also examined suspicions regarding the use of drugs and alcohol. The three were arrested, and their detention was extended several times to facilitate investigative procedures. According to sources familiar with the case, significant discrepancies were discovered in the versions provided regarding the sequence of events.
During the three weeks the suspects were held, police conducted a series of investigative actions, including interrogations and confrontations. The main suspect even participated in a crime scene reconstruction.
Advocate Karin Lagiti, representing the 21-year-old suspect, stated:
