Two-Year-Old Toddler Hospitalized in Netanya with Cocaine Traces in Body
A two-year-old toddler was hospitalized in Netanya with suspected cocaine traces in his body, prompting police to arrest his father on suspicion of child neglect and drug supply.
A two-year-old toddler was brought to Laniado Hospital in Netanya after feeling unwell, where medical staff discovered suspected traces of cocaine in the child's body.
Following the medical findings, police officers from the Shdot station launched an investigation and detained the toddler's father, a resident of Even Yehuda in his 30s. The father is being investigated on suspicion of drug use, supplying drugs to a minor, and child neglect.
At the conclusion of his interrogation and depending on the investigative requirements, a decision will be made on whether to request a court extension of his detention.
This is not the first reported incident of children being exposed to drugs. Just a year ago, during the Sukkot holiday, a two-year-old toddler was evacuated to the emergency room at Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital after inhaling cocaine.
«The child showed clear signs of extreme nervousness, hyperactivity, agitation, high heart rate, and what is commonly known as a 'crash'», said Dr. Brooks, director of the pediatrics department.
She warned that «the immediate danger of exposure to hard drugs is death. Taking such drugs poses a risk of cardiac and neurological damage, respiratory arrest, and death—exactly like the risks of an overdose in adults». Following medical treatment, the toddler's condition stabilized.
