Titi Aynaw Opens Up About Motherhood and Loss
Former Miss Israel Titi Aynaw recently appeared on Walla's 'Walla Ishi' podcast, hosted by Maor Ben Harosh, to discuss the emotional challenges of early motherhood and her deep appreciation for life's small miracles. Fighting back tears, she shared how she longed for her own mother in the days following childbirth.
'The days after I gave birth, when I was at home, I felt like I wanted my mom. I am a mother too, but you want your own mother. That is why I so deeply cherish the fact that I am a mom and that I can wake up for my children,' Aynaw reflected.
Remembering Her Roots
Born in a small village in the Gondar region of Ethiopia, Aynaw immigrated to Israel in 2003 alongside her older brother, Makonen. Tragically, both of their parents passed away before their aliyah—her father in 1993 and her mother in 2000. Raised in Netanya and educated at a religious youth village near Kfar Hasidim, Aynaw went on to serve in the IDF before making history.
In 2013, she broke barriers by becoming the first woman of Ethiopian descent to be crowned Miss Israel, later representing the country at the Miss Universe pageant. Today, she shares two children with her businessman partner, Tzachi Frankel, with their second child, Oz, born in December 2025.
