TikTok Launches AI Shopping Assistant and Direct In-App Checkout
TikTok has launched an AI shopping assistant and direct in-app checkout, allowing users to buy products from brands without leaving the platform.

TikTok has announced the launch of an AI-powered shopping assistant and a new direct in-app checkout feature designed to streamline the consumer journey. These new tools enable users to discover and purchase products directly from brands without ever leaving the platform, consolidating the entire shopping experience.
The newly introduced shopping assistant functions as a conversational AI agent that helps users find items by understanding context and remembering preferences. It provides real-time shopping guidance, including detailed product specs, shipping information, sizing, availability, and assistance with completing transactions.
Seamless In-App Checkout
The direct checkout feature allows users to buy items straight from the 'For You' feed with a single tap. By eliminating the need to redirect users to external websites, TikTok aims to capture a larger share of the consumer journey and increase transaction values across its ecosystem.
'TikTok is evolving from a discovery platform into a fully integrated shopping destination,' industry analysts note, highlighting the platform's growing influence on modern retail.
Strategic Partnerships and Economic Impact
The platform stated that these developments are built in collaboration with leading commerce platforms and payment providers, including Salesforce, Shopify, Shopline, and Stripe. This expansion builds upon the existing TikTok Shop infrastructure.
According to a recent economic impact report, TikTok activity generated 81 billion dollars in GDP for US businesses, with 54 million Americans purchasing a product after viewing a video. Market research firm eMarketer estimates that TikTok Shop generated approximately 15.8 billion dollars in US sales in 2025, accounting for roughly 18 percent of total US social commerce.
