The iconic Leonardo Plaza Tiberias has reopened as the Leonardo Plaza Kineret following a massive 150 million NIS renovation, introducing upgraded rooms, luxury spa facilities, and a year-round cultural performance hall.
Visitors arriving at the well-known hotel on the shores of the Sea of Galilee may feel as though they are stepping into an entirely new place. The rooms, public areas, and even the evening entertainment offerings have undergone a massive transformation, with the goal of turning a vacation in Tiberias into a holistic experience that extends far beyond the swimming pool or the guest room.
A 150 Million NIS Renovation
Behind this sweeping change lies an investment of approximately 150 million NIS in the hotel, which previously operated under the name Leonardo Plaza Tiberias. It is now reopening under a fresh identity as the Leonardo Plaza Kineret following a comprehensive, ground-up renovation. The new moniker is designed to emphasize the property's prime first-line location along the promenade, directly facing the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights.
The extensive overhaul encompassed all 261 guest rooms—including 19 mini-suites, an executive suite, and a presidential suite—as well as all public spaces. The facility features an outdoor pool overlooking the lake, a spa boasting eight treatment rooms, a dry sauna, a relaxation room, a jacuzzi, a fully equipped gym, and a children's club.
Cultural Programming and Entertainment
Yet the evolution goes well beyond interior design and physical amenities. The hotel plans to utilize its performance hall throughout the year for cultural events and musical acts, allowing guests to seamlessly incorporate live shows into their stay. This cultural initiative will kick off with a series of acoustic weekend getaways featuring prominent Israeli artists.
