Tel Aviv Police Thwart Five Car Thefts and Arrest Undocumented Suspects
Tel Aviv North police have thwarted five car thefts and arrested five undocumented West Bank residents, including a minor, in operations across the northern neighborhoods of the city this week.
Police officers from the Tel Aviv North station have thwarted five car thefts across multiple locations in the north of the city since the beginning of the week, arresting five suspects, all undocumented residents from the West Bank. Among those detained is a 16-െന്ന് minor.
The latest incident occurred overnight on Tuesday, after police received a report regarding a vehicle stolen from north Tel Aviv. Officers from the Tel Aviv North station in the Yarkon region launched searches and shortly afterward located the car in a parking lot in the Yarkon Park area. Close to the vehicle, a suspect was identified as an undocumented resident from the West Bank. During a search, police found a remote control device used to open the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and taken in for questioning.
A police official told Maariv that these are undocumented individuals who are allegedly directed by other parties to carry out the thefts. The official stated, "These are 'monkeys' who arrive to execute the thefts under the direction of someone else." According to the official, "Even this morning, a stolen car was found in the Rokach parking lot, and next to it, a suspect was arrested with a device that opens the vehicle."
This marks the fifth incident since the beginning of the week in which station officers successfully thwarted a car theft in progress. Four additional incidents took place during police operations in Neot Afeka, Yehuda HaMaccabi, Levi Eshkol, Bnei Dan, and Ramat Aviv.
All five detained suspects are undocumented residents from the West Bank, and one of them is 16 years old. Depending on the progress of the investigations and findings gathered, police intend to file indictments against them and request their detention until the end of legal proceedings.
