The reason for Friday's upcoming closure is actually tied to Sunday and clearing operations.
According to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, trading takes place on Mondays through Fridays, while clearing operates Sundays through Fridays. If clearing does not take place on a Sunday—such as due to a holiday eve or a holiday—trading on the preceding Friday is canceled. In this upcoming instance, Sunday is the eve of Yom Kippur, meaning no clearing will occur, which halts Friday's trading session as well.
This marks the first time since the transition to Friday trading earlier this year that such a scenario has materialized. Investors are advised to consult the updated exchange calendar in advance and not assume Friday is always a trading day, as holiday schedules on surrounding days can impact operations.
