Tel Aviv Court Extends Remand of Kidnapping and Assault Suspect

The Tel Aviv Magistrates' Court extended today the remand of Shlomo Bracha, who is suspected of abduction, conspiracy to commit a crime, and assault, until Friday. Bracha admitted to being at the scene and driving the vehicle, but claims the incident was a street brawl rather than a kidnapping.

According to the police representative at the hearing, the investigation began when a female citizen reported seeing several people forcing a man into a car. She provided the license plate and vehicle type, allowing police to track down the car and arrest Bracha in another city. Police stated that Bracha linked himself to the scene during questioning, and testimonies were collected from both the citizen and the alleged kidnap victim. So far, four individuals have been questioned, including Bracha.

Bracha's defense attorney, Adv. Rotem Nir, argued that the event started as a street fight and does not necessarily indicate his client's involvement in an assault. He stated that the alleged kidnap victim was a party to the dispute, entered the car voluntarily, and drove off with the suspects. Bracha himself told the court that it was merely a fight involving pepper spray, adding that the alleged victim even went into a snack bar and bought him milk.

Judge Yuval Gazit ruled that additional investigative material presented to him reinforces the reasonable suspicion against Bracha, ordering his continued detention.
