Streets in central Tel Aviv transformed on Saturday evening as local residents embraced Halloween festivities, turning neighborhood blocks into vibrant community celebrations. More than 1,200 participants and about 150 decorated buildings registered for the annual neighborhood event near Dubnov Street and Rabin Square.

Growing Community Tradition

Organized by local residents including Michal Zamir, the initiative has expanded significantly over the past eight years. What began as small indoor gatherings evolved into a public street celebration during the COVID-19 pandemic. Children dressed as witches, skeletons, and ghosts walked the neighborhood collecting candy using branded bags, while residents competed for prizes sponsored by local businesses.

Bringing Joy During Difficult Times

Although Halloween is not part of traditional Jewish holidays like Purim, organizers emphasize it provides an additional opportunity for celebration and community bonding. Zamir noted that the event helps maintain optimism and brings joy to children experiencing a complex security reality.
