The end of an era in the Tel Aviv cultural and nightlife scene: one of the leaders and founders of the "Teder" group has announced his departure from the place that became one of the city's most prominent and influential cultural institutions.
The end of an era in the Tel Aviv cultural and nightlife scene: nightlife figure Zach Bar, one of the leaders and founders of the "Teder" group, announced on Thursday his departure from the group and the venue he had been identified with for over a decade and a half, which became one of the most prominent and influential cultural institutions in the city.
In an emotional post published on his Instagram account, Bar shared his thoughts and revealed that the decision to part ways had already formed in his mind about a year ago:
"Attached is a text I wrote a year ago, and now, in a good hour, it is official. After more than 15 years of work full of passion and belief, it is time to move on. I am proud and at peace with the results of the journey (as difficult as it was) which began as an experiment in the Har Sinai alley, and grew into a magnificent cultural center in our small city."
Bar explicitly referred to the series of iconic places that grew under the group's guidance over the years — including Teder, Port Said, Romano, Nuweiba, and Kissa — and clarified that they "will always be my children." Alongside the farewell, he sent an optimistic message regarding the continuation of his professional and artistic path:
"The reality now is to let go, to let them be without me. I will continue to take part in the creative and exciting community in Tel Aviv and beyond. I hope and even believe in a rebirth. Music will continue to be my compass — and for that I am grateful!"
The story of "Teder" began in 2010 as a temporary and experimental summer event. The concept combined internet radio broadcasts, alternative music, alcohol, and street food in the modest Har Sinai alley. What began as a fleeting pop-up quickly became a phenomenon.
Zach Bar's departure marks not only the closing of a personal circle for him, but also the beginning of a new chapter in the future of the Teder group and the entire local cultural scene.
