Over the weekend, Northern District police officers stopped a taxi for inspection in the city of Nof Hagalil. The vehicle was carrying a 46-year-old driver, a resident of Nazareth, along with a front-seat passenger. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers immediately noticed a strong odor of drugs emanating from the cabin.

A search of the taxi revealed a substance suspected of being drugs stored inside a drawer. During initial questioning at the scene, the taxi driver told officers that the suspected substance belonged to him. He was detained at the scene for further testing.

Following signs indicating driving under the influence of drugs, authorities decided to impound the taxi for 30 days and suspend the driver's license for the same duration. He is expected to face prosecution through a expedited legal procedure. Police emphasized that Northern District officers will continue to act resolutely against reckless behavior to ensure public safety.
