Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani announced that Jordan has expressed deep regret over the civilian casualties resulting from recent airstrikes in the southern Syrian province of Daraa. Speaking during a condolence visit to the families of the victims, al-Shaibani stated that a joint Jordanian committee will arrive in the region to investigate the circumstances of the incident, while emphasizing that Syria will not allow its territory to become a source of threat to neighboring nations.

The airstrikes, which targeted southern Syria, resulted in the deaths of at least seven civilians, including three children, a woman, and three men, with three others sustaining injuries. The incident triggered a diplomatic crisis between Amman and Damascus, prompting the Syrian Foreign Ministry to summon Jordanian Ambassador Sufyan Qudah to deliver a formal letter of protest over the violation of Syrian sovereignty.

In response to the escalation, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi spoke with his Syrian counterpart, expressing profound sorrow and conveying condolences to the Syrian people. Safadi affirmed Jordan's commitment to Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, explaining that the military action was based on intelligence aimed at preempting imminent terrorist threats following a deadly shooting attack in southern Jordan.

Despite the diplomatic friction, cross-border movement and commercial traffic resumed at the Nassib border crossing between the two countries. Both nations agreed to establish a joint security committee to enhance operational and intelligence coordination to counter regional security threats and protect civilians.
