Syria Investigates Ammunition Depot Explosion in Rural Aleppo
The Syrian Defense Ministry launched a probe into an early morning ammunition depot blast in rural Aleppo, confirming no casualties and only material damage.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense opened an investigation on Monday into the circumstances surrounding an ammunition depot explosion in the rural area of Aleppo province early in the morning.
Simultaneously, emergency, engineering, and security teams arrived at the scene and secured the area. Officials noted that contrary to earlier reports, there were no casualties in the explosion, and the damage was strictly material.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense told the SANA news agency that it is investigating the causes behind explosions at several military sites, the latest being the ammunition depot near the town of Al-Eis in Aleppo province.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense did not point to a specific entity behind the blasts, such as Israel. However, it stated that measures will be taken based on the investigation's findings to protect personnel and military facilities, and to prevent similar incidents.
According to the ministry, verified information from the investigations will be published soon.
