DNA Study Reveals Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe Are Ninth Cousins
A new MyHeritage study reveals that Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe are ninth cousins. The finding comes as Sweeney embraces comparisons to the 1950s icon.

A new genealogical study by Israeli-founded MyHeritage has revealed that Hollywood star Sydney Sweeney and iconic 1950s sex symbol Marilyn Monroe are indeed distant relatives, sharing a bloodline that dates back centuries.
According to the research, the two actresses are ninth cousins, separated by a single generation. The ancestral link connects through their paternal lines, tracing back to Ezra Perry, one of the earliest settlers of the historic town of Sandwich in Massachusetts during the 17th century.
A Lifelong Admiration
Sweeney has never hidden her deep admiration for Monroe, who passed away in 1962 at the age of 36. Earlier this year, Sweeney made headlines at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival by wearing a vintage-inspired dress reminiscent of Monroe's iconic style. Her admiration has frequently manifested on the red carpet, including a custom gown by Israeli designer Galia Lahav last December that paid homage to Monroe's famous white dress from the 1955 classic The Seven Year Itch.
"Scott is completely unbothered by Sydney's provocative scenes or any of the work she does as an actress; he understands it's part of her profession," a source close to the couple revealed.
Romance and Conversion
The unexpected genealogical revelation follows reports regarding Sweeney's relationship with American-Jewish music producer Scooter Braun. Sources close to the couple have noted parallels to Monroe's life, including reports that Sweeney has been exploring conversion to Judaism, much like Monroe did prior to her marriage to playwright Arthur Miller. Despite facing controversies over her career choices and fashion ventures, Sweeney continues to embrace her unique path in Hollywood.
