A 17-year-old boy from Ashdod died this Wednesday evening at the city's Assuta Hospital after being rushed there for emergency medical treatment in critical condition.

Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. As part of the inquiry, authorities are investigating the suspicion that the boy had consumed alcohol and drugs during a gathering with friends prior to his transfer to the hospital.

According to details currently under review, no signs of violence were found on the boy's body. The police emphasize that the investigation is in its early stages and that all lines of inquiry are being examined to clarify the circumstances that led to his death.

Against this backdrop, warnings regarding drug and alcohol use among teenagers have increased in recent months. In May, a report on Walla highlighted the work of a specialized unit at the Lev HaSharon Mental Health Center, which treats 14 to 18-year-olds struggling with drug and alcohol addictions.
