On a voluntary basis: the free solution for neighborhood package pickup
A Kfar Saba resident has launched a free social project that connects neighbors driving to pick up packages with other residents in the area, aiming to save time, fuel, and long waits.
The package has arrived at the collection point, and now you need to find time, get in the car, look for parking, and stand in a tedious line. Tal Amir (53), an information systems manager and resident of the Green Neighborhood in Kfar Saba, found a simple and free solution for this called "Osfim ba-Yeruka". The AI-based system connects residents who are driving to the branch with neighbors who are waiting for packages at the same point, and allows for quick coordination via WhatsApp.
"I realized that in every neighborhood there is always someone who is already driving to the branch and someone else who is just waiting for a package, so why shouldn't we connect them?", says Amir.
For him, the savings in time and fuel are just the beginning:
"The real goal is not just to save a line at the post office, but to bring back the sense of neighborhood. A neighbor to whom you hand a package turns from a stranger living on the floor above you into someone you have a connection with. This is a community that is built one package at a time".
The project has begun operating on a fully voluntary basis, and the first trips have already been made. The local initiative also received praise from the Mayor of Kfar Saba, Rafi Saar:
"This is an initiative that illustrates how a simple idea can turn into community action that connects people. Alongside the savings in time and travel, there is mutual responsibility and good neighborliness here. I congratulate Tal on the initiative and hope we will see more ideas that grow from the residents and strengthen the community".
