Following reports of smoke: Yitzhak Navon train station in Jerusalem evacuated

The Yitzhak Navon train station in Jerusalem was evacuated this morning (Thursday) after reports of smoke were received at the station. Firefighters who arrived at the scene conducted searches, during which the source of the smoke was not located, and no unusual findings were found. Shortly after the evacuation, the station's operations returned to normal: "The firefighters acted quickly and carried out thorough searches until the danger was ruled out."

Jerusalem District Commander, Tafsar Shmulik Friedman stated:

"Train stations are complex and crowded hubs where we are required to be prepared for any scenario, from fire and smoke incidents to complex emergency scenarios with many casualties. Fire and Rescue Services of Israel regularly practices and trains in station areas, with the goal of ensuring a fast, professional, and coordinated response during a real event. In this incident as well, the firefighters acted quickly and carried out thorough searches until the danger was ruled out. Preliminary preparation is what allows us to be ready at all times and protect the lives of the public."
