Wave of grenade incidents in Israel continues
Three grenades were discovered in Gush Dan and one in Hadera. In two cases in Tel Aviv, the incidents occurred at addresses that have experienced similar threats in the past.
Four cases involving the throwing or placement of fragmentation and stun grenades occurred in less than 24 hours—three in the Tel Aviv District and one in Hadera (Coastal District)—between last night and Monday morning.
In two of the Tel Aviv cases, the incidents took place at locations that have seen similar events in the past. This recurring activity serves as a threatening message to criminal elements while terrorizing residents of luxury towers and entire neighborhoods.
The incidents began early in the morning when a fragmentation grenade exploded near a residential building on Zvi Tadmor Street in Holon. Police forces from the Ayalon area, including sappers, arrived to collect evidence and conduct a forensic examination. No casualties were reported, though the building sustained damage. According to police, the tenants are law-abiding citizens, leaving the specific target of the threat unclear. Preliminary checks confirmed the use of a standard IDF fragmentation grenade.
A similar incident occurred on Shai Agnon Street in northern Tel Aviv, where tenants discovered an unexploded IDF fragmentation grenade at the building's entrance. Sappers neutralized the device, and investigators seized security camera footage. Notably, "Maariv" reported two previous grenade incidents at this exact address last month, indicating an ongoing criminal conflict.
A third incident in Tel Aviv was recorded at a luxury tower complex in Ramat Aviv Gimmel, where a standard IDF stun grenade was found in the courtyard. The Yarkon District police are investigating the matter, noting that this location has also been the site of several serious incidents recently.
A senior police official told "Maariv":
"We must point an accusing finger at the IDF authorities regarding the incessant leakage of standard grenades from military bases. A fragmentation grenade is sold on the street today for about 2,000 shekels. For a similar sum, one can hire a mercenary, meaning that for 4,000 to 6,000 shekels, criminals can terrorize an entire neighborhood. As long as these weapons leak from IDF bases, it will be difficult to prevent such acts."
Another incident occurred this morning in Hadera near a gas station, where an unexploded fragmentation grenade was found on a door leading to several businesses. Sappers neutralized the device, and an intelligence-led investigation is currently underway.
