South Korean Father Arrested for Murder of Two-Month-Old Daughter
A South Korean father was arrested in Osan for allegedly murdering his two-month-old daughter in a fit of rage and attempting to delete home security footage.
A tragic incident occurred in South Korea as a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murdering his two-month-old daughter at their home in Osan, near Seoul. Local police detained the father and plan to request a court extension for his detention, according to the Yonhap news agency.
The incident unfolded early in the morning when emergency services and police were called to the family apartment at 3:47 AM following reports of an unresponsive infant. First responders found the baby in cardiac arrest and rushed her to the hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead after extensive resuscitation efforts, as reported by The Chosun Ilbo.
An examination of the infant's body revealed severe bruises and signs of trauma, particularly around the face, prompting a swift police investigation focusing on the father. During interrogation, the suspect confessed, stating, "I committed the crime in a fit of anger because she would not stop crying and wouldn't fall asleep," according to the Maeil Business Newspaper.
Investigators revealed that after the child was declared dead, the father attempted to obstruct the investigation. He used his mobile phone to remotely delete video footage from the home security camera that captured the hours leading up to the tragedy. Police confiscated the memory card for digital forensic recovery, while the infant's body was sent for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and investigate potential prior abuse.
