Suspicion: Senior official in the Palestinian Authority apparatus was involved in transferring weapons to a family member

Two Palestinians active in the Palestinian Authority's Preventive Security Service, including one who, according to the police, holds a senior rank, were arrested overnight (between Tuesday and Wednesday) on suspicion of involvement in transferring weapons to their family member.

The investigation began following intelligence information gathered by the Hebron police station. About a week ago, as part of operations following the information, two pistols and ammunition were located, and a suspect was arrested for involvement in their possession.

During the continuation of the investigation, suspicion arose regarding the involvement of two additional Palestinians, aged 28 and 52, residents of the town of Tafuh in the Hebron district. According to the police, the two serve as operatives in the Palestinian Preventive Security Service, and one of them holds a senior rank.

According to the suspicion, the two were involved in transferring the two seized pistols to their family member. The police are checking whether the weapons were intended to be used for committing criminal offenses or for security-related purposes.

Following the development in the investigation, soldiers of the IDF's Judea Brigade raided the location where the two were staying overnight and arrested them. They were transferred for further questioning at the police station in Hebron.
