Sonya Curry, mother of NBA star Stephen Curry, announced she has remarried five years after her divorce from Dell Curry, wearing a dress by Israeli designer Pnina Tornai.
Five years after her highly publicized divorce from Dell Curry, Sonya Curry, mother of Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, announced on Friday that she has remarried. The 60-year-old shared photos on Instagram from her wedding, which took place over the summer in Arizona, and spoke about the new partner who entered her life during a particularly difficult period.
A Secret Groom and an Israeli Designer Dress
The wedding was held at the luxury Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort in Scottsdale, with preparations taking just nine weeks. Sonya wore a white dress featuring golden floral embellishments by Israeli designer Pnina Tornai, paired with diamond jewelry. The venue was decorated in light tones with white roses and candles, and roller skaters from an Arizona local team provided entertainment.
"A year ago my mother passed away unexpectedly, and at the same time the most amazing man entered my life," Curry wrote in her post. "A few months later I was blessed to become his wife."
Moving On After a Public Split
Sonya and Dell Curry met in the 1980s as athletes at Virginia Tech. They married in 1988 and had three children: Stephen, Seth, and Sydel. However, the marriage ended in a bitter divorce in 2021 amid mutual allegations of infidelity. Dell previously remarried in 2023 to a woman named Nikki, and now Sonya has also embarked on a new chapter.
