"Supposedly Moroccan – where are your children?": Yinon Magal attacks Gadi Eisenkot
The host of "The Patriots" and 103 FM broadcaster launched a personal attack against the former IDF Chief of Staff. Magal harshly criticized the fact that Eisenkot's daughter married in a secular ceremony on Friday night, questioning his family values. Eisenkot is a bereaved father whose son, Staff Sergeant (res.) Gal Meir Eisenkot, fell in battle in the Gaza Strip.
Television and radio host Yinon Magal harshly attacked former IDF Chief of Staff and chairman of the 'Yashar!' party, Gadi Eisenkot, this morning (Tuesday). The remarks were made during a joint radio program with journalist Ben Caspit on 103FM and focused on the personal life of the Eisenkot family.
During the program, Magal criticized Eisenkot against the backdrop of his daughter's wedding, which he claimed took place on Friday night. On air, Magal stated:
"Eisenkot's daughter got married in a secular wedding on Friday night. Supposedly traditional, supposedly Moroccan, that is the truth."
Later in the broadcast, Magal intensified the personal attack and cast doubt on the legacy of the former Chief of Staff, aiming his criticism at the upbringing of his children:
"I am not interested in your lineage, where you came from, I am not interested in Eisenkot's lineage. Show me your history. Show me your children, where their heart lies. That is what you show me. What have you done to fix the world?"
Magal's personal attack on Eisenkot's family, and specifically the statement "show me your children," is jarring in light of the severe tragedy the family has experienced. Gadi Eisenkot is a bereaved father who lost his son, Staff Sergeant (res.) Gal Meir Eisenkot, who fell in battle in the Gaza Strip during the war.
Gal was Gadi Eisenkot's youngest son. He enlisted in Shayetet 13 and served as a medic in Maglan. He was called up for reserve duty in the 699th Battalion under the 551st Brigade, subordinate to the 162nd Division. Gal was killed in December 2023 during searches in Jabalia, apparently as a result of a booby-trapped shaft that exploded. He was evacuated in critical condition to Assuta Ashdod Hospital, where his death was pronounced.
