Sixth consecutive week: Demonstrations in Safed against public transport operation before the end of Shabbat

In Safed and at the Meron junction, groups of Ultra-Orthodox protesters demonstrated today, Saturday, against the operation of public transport before the end of Shabbat, for the sixth consecutive week. The protesters attempted to block the buses and managed to delay them for a short time.
Police officers arrived at both locations and worked to prevent the buses from being stopped. Additionally, secular individuals arrived to serve as a counterweight to the Ultra-Orthodox protest and attempted to prevent them from delaying the buses.
About a month ago, approximately 300 Ultra-Orthodox protesters blocked traffic on the main road near the central bus station in Safed. They disrupted the passage of vehicles and shouted "Shabbos" at drivers, while police forces operated at the scene to allow free movement. The struggle over the character of the "city of kabbalists" is sliding down a slope of hostility and turning into a passion-filled confrontation that continues to escalate.
