Shirley Levy decided to treat herself to a luxury gift for her 30th birthday, but she never imagined the surprise that would be waiting for her at home after her Instagram post.
Social media star Shirley Levy, who maintains a popular Instagram account with over half a million followers, was a guest on the "HaPshuta" podcast with Shir Hadas Meir. During the episode, Levy shared the perks of her life as an influencer: "My grandfather from Aden would not have believed that when I mention something, I have a delivery of it at my door. I will tell you the story of how fun it is to be an influencer on a large scale."
The story began when Levy decided to treat herself for her 30th birthday, a departure from her usual shopping habits. "I was celebrating my birthday and saw this necklace on my friend. Let's be real, I'm Yemeni—I'm a Shein and Temu shopper, a ten-shekel kind of person. But I told myself: it's my 30th, a milestone birthday, I need to get out of my comfort zone. I decided to buy a 2,000 shekel necklace from Swarovski as a gift to myself," Levy shared with a smile.
Levy documented the shopping process on social media, sharing her dilemma with her followers. "I posted a story about it, and when I got to the store, the saleswoman showed me both the gold and the colorful versions. I debated which one to buy, but eventually chose the silver one because I thought it was prettier," she said. Upon returning home, Levy discovered the true power of social media exposure when the brand's customer service department reached out to her.
"I got home, and Swarovski customer service called me: 'We saw you were at our branch, and we would love to treat you for your birthday as well. You really boosted sales at that branch.' Naturally, I said yes, and they sent me the gold version," she recounted.
But the surprise did not end there. Levy revealed the final outcome that left her with an even larger collection:
"Now wait... ta-ta-ta-tam! When I posted that I was going to buy the necklace, I had actually uploaded a photo from their website. As a result, the website also sent me a message saying, 'We would be happy to send you a necklace.' So now I have three Swarovski necklaces! Oh my god, the power of collaboration!"
